News: The Fisker Family
The information about the Fisker Family has been updated.
Until I searched further for this part of my family, I only knew the name of my great-great grandfather, Søren Andersen Fisker, but now the oldest known person is 4 generations further back, namely Jens Andersen Fisker, who died in Skanderup in 1733.
Fisker means fisherman, and in Denmark in the 1700s surnames were not used the way they are today, so Jens probably worked as a fisherman.
My Fisker ancestors lived in Silkeborg area for all generations until my grandmother, Grethe Dræby Kristiansen, who moved to Funen. My grandmother's parents chose to omit the Fisker name, but there are currently approximately 1900 Danes with the surname Fisker, and although they are not all related, someone from my ancestry might have continued using the name.
Besides finding new generations of ancestors, I have found more descendants, so I hope it has now become easier to find living descendants, so the list of Fiskers can be expanded even more.
